Mercari Japan needs a Japanese phone number, a Japanese address and a payment method that works in Japan, which most visitors don’t have. Here is how we buy for you.
1. Send us the links
Paste the Mercari or Yahoo! Auctions item URLs into our order form, and tell us how and when you’d like to receive your items. You don’t need an account.
2. Get your quote
We check that each item is still available and can be delivered in time, and send you one total price, usually within 1 business day. If you asked for Mercari authentication, we also check that it can be used for that item, and include the fee in your quote.
3. Pay by card
Pay the quote in Japanese yen by credit or debit card, using the secure Stripe payment link in your quote email. We buy only after payment.
4. We buy the items
We buy from the seller right away. Popular items sometimes sell out before we can buy them. If that happens, we refund you everything except the 10% handling and payment fee.
5. Shipping and authentication
The seller ships to our Ginza desk, usually within 2–7 days. If you chose authentication, the item goes to Mercari’s authentication centre first, which adds 1–3 days. After authentication, Mercari can deliver the item straight to your hotel or another address in Japan, without going through our Ginza desk. An item that does not pass is cancelled by Mercari, and the item price and the authentication fee are refunded. See Authentication & Returns.
6. Receive your items
We deliver to your hotel or Haneda or Narita Airport, or keep them for pickup in Ginza. If an item arrives after you’ve left Japan, we send it to you by EMS (trading cards cannot be shipped overseas).
How long does it take?
Usually 5–10 days from payment to delivery. Please order at least 10 days before the date you want to receive your items.
