Can I use Mercari Japan as a tourist?
Not easily. Mercari Japan needs a Japanese phone number, a Japanese address and a payment method that works in Japan. We buy on your behalf, so you don’t need any of these.
Can Mercari ship to my hotel in Japan?
Yes, through us. We receive the item in Ginza and deliver it to your hotel front desk during your stay. See Hotel delivery.
Can I pick up my items at the airport?
Yes, at Haneda or Narita Airport on your departure day. See Airport pickup.
Do I pay international shipping or import duty?
Not if you receive your items in Japan and carry them home yourself. Your own country’s duty-free allowance and customs rules still apply when you arrive home.
Can you buy from Yahoo! Auctions (Yahoo Japan Auctions)?
Yes. Tell us your maximum bid. If we win the auction, the order cannot be cancelled.
What other sites can you buy from?
Mercari, Yahoo! Auctions, Yahoo! Flea Market (PayPay Flea Market), Rakuma, Rakuten, Amazon Japan, and most Japanese online shops.
How do I know a brand item is genuine?
You can add Mercari’s official Anshin Kantei authentication to your order. We strongly recommend it for brand items of ¥20,000 or more. It is available only for Mercari items sent by Mercari’s own delivery service, and it has to be chosen when the item is bought. See Authentication & Returns.
What happens if an item turns out to be fake?
If you chose authentication and the item does not pass, Mercari cancels the purchase and refunds the item price and the authentication fee, and we pass that refund on to you. Only our 10% handling and payment fee is not refundable. If you chose not to use authentication, we cannot check the item for you and cannot refund it.
How long does it take?
Usually 5–10 days. Please order at least 10 days before the date you want to receive your items.
What if the item sells out before you buy it?
We refund you everything except the 10% handling and payment fee.
How much is your fee?
¥1,000 per item, plus 10% of the item price. See Prices.
What currency do you charge in? How do I pay?
We always charge in Japanese yen (JPY). You pay by credit or debit card through a secure Stripe payment link, and your card issuer converts the amount into your currency.
Can I cancel my order?
Before we buy: yes. We refund everything except the 10% handling and payment fee. After we buy: only if the seller agrees to cancel. You pay any shipping costs, including return shipping to the seller, and the 10% fee is not refundable. Auctions you have won cannot be cancelled.
Can I return an item?
Not after you’ve received it. Please see Authentication & Returns.
Do I need to create an account?
No. Just send your links through the order form.
What if my item arrives after I leave Japan?
We send it to your home by EMS (Express Mail Service, Japan Post’s international courier). Postage is charged at cost, with no extra handling fee. Trading cards cannot be shipped overseas by EMS, so please make sure you can receive them in Japan. For the United States, import duties and taxes must be prepaid before shipping, so we charge them to you together with the postage.
Who operates this service?
